Woodwind Instructors

Staci R. Miller - Clarinet and Saxophone

Ms. Miller has earned a Bachelor of Music from Wichita State University and Master of Music from Michigan State University. She has also completed hours towards a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of North Texas. Her teachers include Jim Jones, Frank Ell, James Gillespie, Ted Lane, and Steven Cohen. She served as a member of the U.S. Air Force Band of the West Concert Band, Chamber Players, and NightHawk Jazz Ensemble. She is a member of the Charles River Wind Ensemble. Ms. Miller has 15 years of experience as a private clarinet and saxophone instructor.

Amanda Maas - Woodwind

A passionate proponent of music education for all ages, Amanda is an active private lesson instructor in the greater Boston area. Throughout her teaching career, she has enjoyed working with senior citizens as well as young beginners. Having been a summer music theory instructor, she aslo tries to incorporate theory basics into lessons to build a strong musical foundation. Her principal teachers include Dr. Tamara Thweatt and Gro Sandvik. She also attended the Academie d'ete Nice and studied under Davide Formisano in 2006.
In addtition being a teacher and a performer, Amanda is a highly experienced flute technician and piccolo specialist. In her free time she enjoys hiking and camping.

String Instructors

Peter Hughes

Worcester native Peter Hughes studied violin as a scholarship student with chairpersons Eric Rosenblith of the New England Conservatory and Janet Packer of the Longy School of Music. Additionally Peter completed with honors music theory programs with Judy Ross and Eric Sawyer at the Longy School. A free lance violinist in greater Boston since 1994, Mr. Hughes has performed with the Lyric Stage, Reagle Players, Speakeasy Stage Company, Life Story Theater, Boston Children's Theater, and Musique Makers, a trio performing classical and jazz styles. In 1973 Peter auditioned for the Worcester Orchestra and at age fifteen he became the symphony's youngest professional, and credits his early entry into professional music to the encouragement of his high school music teacher, Fred Orkiseski. Recently Mr.Hughes participated in the annual Shakespeare Concerts with performances this year at Smith College and Clark University. Linda Scenna - violin

BM in violin performance from the University of Lowell. Linda has free-lanced extensively in the New England area in a variety of venues including symphonies, choruses, opera, musical theatre and various name acts. She is currently a member of Thayer Symphony, New Bedford Symphony and the Hillyer Festival Orchestra. Her teachers have included BSO players Joseph McGauley and Ronan Lefkowitz.

Yacov Aviv - violin, viola and cello

Yacov Aviv graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music with a degree in performance. At Berklee he studied with Eugene Friesen and Rob Thomas. He has studied privately with Judith Glyde in Colorado and Marcel Berger and Doron Toyster in Israel. He plays both classical music and jazz and free-lances throughout New England in both genres with various ensembles and performs regularly at Temple Emanuel in Andover with the Shabbat Unplugged Ensemble. He is also a teacher of the Alexander Technique (certified by the American Society of the Alexander Technique- AmSAT) and teaches privately in Boston, Newton and Framingham.

Etleva Hima-Buli - Violin

Etleva Hima-Buli is an Albanian native. She started violin at six years old at the Music School in Tirane. Her continuing studies were in Bucharest, Romania with many other well know violinists. She earned her Masters Degree in Performance from the Boston Conservatory, where she was mentored by Ronan Lefkowitz (BSO), Judith Eisenberg, Virginia Neikrug and Kelly Barr (BSO). Ms. Hima-Buli teaches beginners to advanced students in Boston and the surrounding areas. Her students have played in prestigious youth orchestras in Boston and have won youth competitions. She has also coached many youth orchestras. She performs regularly with Boston Landmarks Orch., Opera Boston, Vermont Symphony, and Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra. Recently she published her first violin method book “European Violin Studies.”

Stan Johnson - Trumpet

Scholarship Performance Studies, Henry Ford College, Scholarship Performance Studies, Wayne State University, Performance Diploma, Berklee College of Music, B.A., Berklee College of Music, Graduate theory courses, UMass Lowell. Mr. Johnson has been teaching in the Boston area for ten years. He has performed with local leading acts including Rick Russell, Ron Levy, Sweet Willie ‘D’ and toured with Mighty Sam Mclain as well as performances in jazz festivals in Boston, Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans and Montreaux Switzerland. Production and release of two solo CD’s plus credits on three additional releases.

Ed Clough - Trombone

Ed studied music performance at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY and then at Boston University. His trombone instructors were William Harris and Ronald Barron. His chamber music coaches were from Empire Brass. In 1986, Ed co-founded the Boston Brass quintet. As a member of Boston Brass, Ed averaged 120+ memorized performances per year in 49 states, Canada, France, England, Japan, Taiwan and Singapore. Ed is a performing artist with the Conn-Selmer Company. Ed has taught master classes in trombone and chamber music to students of all levels around the world. For Ed, appropriate application of theory and history are essential elements in music performance. Along with instrumental technique, his students use singing and memorization to help understand solo and ensemble performance.

Chris Enright

Born in Rochester, New York and raised in Bath, Maine, Chris Enright has had a passion for music all of his life. After receiving considerable scholarships from Berklee College of Music's World Scholarship Tour, and Berklee's Entering Student Talent Scholarship, Chris left Bath and made his way to Boston where earned his bachelors degree in piano performance and jazz composition, graduating cum laude. During enrollment, Chris' musical skills were developed with the help of Berklee's exceptional faculty, including Danilo Perez, Joanne Brackeen, Hal Crook, Tiger Okoshi, Joe Lovano, and George Garzone. He also traveled and performed with Phil Wilson's Rainbow Band and Rainbow All-Stars. Both groups have appeared at the "Vineyard Vibes Jazz Festival" in Martha's Vineyard, as well as the "International Association of Jazz Educators Conference" in Long Beach, California. Outside of Berklee, Chris played piano and composed for a trombone ensemble called "Against The Grain." After forming, the group won and performed at the "Eastern Trombone Workshop" held in Washington DC, won and performed at the "International Trombone Festival" held in New Orleans, released a self-titled CD, and appeared in the July, 2004 issue of "JAZZIZ" magazine.

Steve is a pianist who performs regularly with several groups including The Twilight Jazz Trio, the Boardwalk Jazz Quartet and The Right Band, a local cover band. As a Public School Music teacher for nearly twenty years and a private piano teacher for over twenty-five years, Steve has worked with literally thousands of students and is familiar and comfortable with teaching classical, jazz and popular styles to students of all ages. Karen Amlaw

Earned her bachelors degree from the University of Rochester / Eastman School of Music. She has much experience teaching young children. Previously she has taught general music as part of the after-school programs for Belmont Street Community School in Worcester, MA and Edgerton Daycare in Rochester, New York. Currently Karen shares her musical talents with children as the general music teacher for the YWCA in both Westborough and Worcester. In addition to her teaching, Karen is also an active singer whose teachers/coaches have included Karen Lykes, Maria Ferrante, Brian Moll, Bradley Pennington, Olga Rogach and world renowned soprano Maria Spacagna. Karen will be using the Kids on Keyes program for young beginning piano students.

Chi Won Lee - Guitar

Chi Lee is an established music instructor and musician around Boston and a current instructor at four different schools including ones in the Cambridge Public Schools. He has earned a Graduate Diploma at the New England Conservatory of Music after completing his Master of Music from Longy School of Music and Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music. Chi has studied and played with some of the best players in the world including Charlie Banacos, George Garzone, John Lockwood, Bob “Rakalam” Moses, Ben Monder, Michael Cain, Mick Goodrick.

Maldi Kellici - Guitar

Recipient of the World Scholarship Tour at Berklee College of Music, where he’s finishing up his studies in guitar performance and music business. For the past four years he was the lead guitarist for Searching For Silence, a rock band that performed regularly in the Boston and New England area. His studies focus on guitar technique and soloing in the rock genre, resembling the style of Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, Jason Becker.

Jeff Williams - Guitar

While playing piano at an early age, Jeff quickly realized how much fun it is to play music. He later learned guitar, bass, drums, and flute. The majority of his time is spent either teaching, playing, or listening to music. He has earned a BA in music from Westfield State College with a concentration on jazz guitar. He has been teaching for over 6 years and is experienced with many styles.

Guillermo Ortiz - Guitar

Guillermo earned a BM from Berklee College of Music in Jazz Compostion and Performance. He is a composer and peformer. Recently released his newest CD “Stories From the Present”. He has been a professional musician for over 15 years. His experience has included TV shows, the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City, the Berklee Performance Center, Peabody Museum in Harvard, and many clubs in the Boston area.

Tim Gruntman - Guitar

A recent graduate of Berklee College of Music, Tim holds a dual degree in guitar performance and music production and engineering. Tim has taught private guitar lessons for over ten years and has performed extensively with jazz, rock, and blues bands throughout Massachusetts and his home state of Indiana. In addition to teaching and performing he is active as a recording engineer. Recently, Tim expanded his recording studio business to include a record label, Altimeter Records.

Christine Petkus - Voice

Classically trained soprano, Christine Petkus, holds a Masters in Music from the New England Conservatory of Music and has more than ten years teaching experience. Offering lessons that encompass Choral, Classical and/or Music Theater, Ms. Petkus' goal is to create an atmosphere where students enjoy singing and learn to use their instruments to the best of their ability. Past and current students have been accepted into the University of Massachusetts' Music Program, have earned District and All State honors and have successfully competed for lead and supporting cast roles in their high school productions. Students have ranged in age from three to adult - if you can make sound, we'll find a way for you to use and enjoy it.

Andrea Ehrenreich - Soprano

Andrea Ehrenreich has appeared in recital throughout the United States, as well as in Germany, Austria, France, Ireland, Poland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, New Zealand and India. She has appeared as a guest soloist with such highly acclaimed organizations as the Cleveland Orchestra, the Sinfonieorchester Leonberg, the Miami Symphony, the St. Cecilia Orchestra of Dublin, the Boston Chamber Orchestra, the Stuttgarter Bach Collegium, the Back Bay Chorale of Boston, the MIT Symphony Orchestra, the New World Symphony, and with the Buffalo Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and Summer Pops Orchestra. She has enjoyed success in the operatic field, and has extensive oratorio and recital credits. Andrea advocates new music, and has premiered several works composed expressly for her by Boston area musicians.

As an advocate of American music, Ms. Ehrenreich has toured the South Pacific and the Far East under the auspices of the United States Information Agency’s Artistic Ambassador Program. The recital tour included highlights from American opera, art song, and musical theatre. Ms. Ehrenreich gave concerts in New Zealand, Indonesia and India to enthusiastic critical acclaim.

She earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Miami, and holds degrees from the Music Conservatory of Stuttgart, Germany, Boston University and Ithaca College.

She teaches all styles of music, from classical to musical theatre to jazz. She teaches all levels of ability and enjoys teaching all age groups.

Marc DeMille

A Massachusetts native, Marc DeMille makes his living exclusively as a performer and teacher throughout Greater Boston. He is known to churchgoers all over New England, having sung as soloist and chorister for upwards of 500 services annually at over 100 houses of worship during the last 15 years, including the internationally renowned music programs at Church of the Advent and Trinity Church in Boston. In the concert world, he is well sought-after for his lyric baritone voice, performing regularly with professional ensembles Philovox and The Boston Secession. Recent solo work includes engagements with Chorus Pro Musica, Paul Madore Chorale, Nashua Symphony Orchestra, Assabet Valley Mastersingers, Marblehead Festival Chorus, Medfield Community Chorus and the Newburyport Community Messiah Sing. His performances have taken him to Symphony Hall, Tanglewood, Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center; and he has recorded for the Sony, Arsis, Brave and Wandering Records labels. Mr. DeMille pursued undergraduate work at MIT, studying with John Oliver, William Cutter, Richard Morrisson and Margaret O'Keefe; more recently, he has been under the tutelage of internationally recognized vocalist and teacher Frank Kelley. In addition to his duties at Robinson Music, he teaches voice with programs in Concord, Carlisle, Westford and Wakefield. He now resides in Concord with his wife Kelly.

John Loud - Percussion

BFA from Salem State College, Summa Cum Laude. Also attended UMASS Lowell as a Music Major. Private study with Alan Dawson, Fred Buda (BSO), Joe Galeota and Jacquelyn Gourdin. Teaching experience includes private instruction at Shrewsbury Public Schools, Belmont Music Workshop, Lexington Music Center, and Robinson Music. Extensive performance experience with such greats as Charles Neville, Bruce Torff (NEC faculty) James Carter, Mike Metheny, Bruce Bartlett, Marty Rowan, Toni Lynn Washing, John Troy, David Brown, Susan Tedeschi, Bobby Hebb, Michelle Wilson, Ron Levy, Ken Clark, Joe Mulholland, and James Dower. Also is bandleader of Grapevine Road, one of Boston’s top bands. He is the featured drummer on Toni Lynne Washington’s CD Tone Cool which was nominated for the WC Handy award in 1995.

Regan Gibson

Regan Gibson is a drumset performer and teacher living in the Boston area and is currently attending Berklee College of Music. He has performed with many excellent local musicians in styles including jazz, funk, pop, afrobeat, and reggae. He has studied jazz with many great local teachers and is influenced by the music of such artists as Brad Mehldau, Sting, James Brown, Radiohead, Herbie Hancock, Avishai Cohen, and Miles Davis.
